The original version of Destiny 2 Ikelos Shotgun was officially called the Ikelos_SG_v1.0.1 and was one of the most coveted weapons prior to the Forsaken DLC. In the Season of arrival, this much-loved gun made a comeback, with a new name, IKELOS_SG_V1.0.2, and a more desirable perk pool.
As it won’t be affected by the sunsetting coming this November, it is a very viable option to those who like a reliable rapid-frame shotgun in their arsenal. If you are looking to farm for the Ikelos SG, this is how you do it.
What is the Ikelos Shotgun
The SG_v1.0.1 was widely used prior to forsaken and was considered the best shotgun in the game. The new version is still an exceptionally good weapon, with a much bigger pool of perks, nevertheless is still a legendary, rapid-fire frame shotgun, available from the final boss chest in the prophecy dungeon.

You can still get the old one from the escalation protocol’s final chest, however, that is not the version unaffected by sunsetting. The one you are looking for is the one dropping from the prophecy. Unfortunately, it is not a guaranteed drop, so you might have to run several instances before the gods of RNG smile at you.
Destiny 2 Ikelos Shotgun Perks
The intrinsic perk is a rapid-fire frame, which gives you full-auto fire, a somewhat bigger ammo reserve, and a reload boost. There is a curated role, which comes with masterwork with a rifled barrel, tactical mag, threat detector, and trench barrel. It’s a decent roll nonetheless there are other good options as well.
This gun can drop with a wide variety of roles, some are better than others, but THERE IS NO DEFINITIVE GOD ROLL FOR THIS GUN. How could there be, as it could drop with 9 different barrels,6 different mags, and 6 primary and 6 secondary traits?

The combinations are a whopping 1944 different roles. If you consider the masterwork possibilities it comes to 7776 different ones. So that being out of the way, let’s get down to brass tacks and see the perks. Range-based perks won’t do much on a shotgun, what you should be looking for is reload, handling, and recoil control as it’s full auto.
It will be your best options regarding the barrel are fluted barrel, arrowhead brake, and corkscrew rifling. Probably your best bet is arrowhead brake but the other two are also workable.
For the magazine, the appended mag and the tactical mag are your go-to, the latter being the better option, with that extra reload speed and stability. In the primary traits you are looking for a feeding frenzy, but here you have such a variety of good possibilities that it’s really whatever you get, you get, and you should try it on for size.

I like the pulse monitor on my arc bottom hunter, for example, it shreds when you are in critical health and most needed. The last column of traits is also dozy. You have 6 perks, and only disruption break stands out as not particularly good. You could get a vorpal weapon, elemental capacitor, trench barrel, surrounded, or rampage.
A feeding frenzy, rampage, with reload masterwork, and tactical mag, is a beast. The pulse monitor, the surrounded combo could give you that much-needed extra buff in sketchy situations. The combinations are endless.
How to get the Destiny 2 Ikelos Shotgun
As I said Destiny 2 Ikelos Shotgun only drops in The prophecy dungeon from the final chest. However, I must insert a disclaimer here. I don’t know which was the chest that dropped my first one. It was on my first run and I did it on all 3 of my characters, back to back, and wasn’t paying attention to which chest dropped what, and alas none of my friends did either. As per the internet (google is your friend) and it says it drops at the final boss, so go with that. Since that, get drops from all the chests in the dungeon, even the hidden ones, containing this gun.

So I would say the drop rate is fairly high. Also, you could farm this dungeon as the drops are not limited to one legendary per chest per character, so as many times as you open a chest, (except the hidden ones) you will get a legendary drop. After you got your first drop you could even get it from unfocused umbral engrams too.
